The Berkeley School

The Berkeley School, a preschool-8th grade progressive, independent school in the East Bay portion of the San Francisco Bay Area, seeks a full-time after school and music teacher  to join our multicultural, learner-centered community.

We are committed to principles that promote effective, inclusive teaching practices and create optimal educational environments for each of our students.  We value the skills, knowledge and experiences a diverse workforce brings to our school. This includes organizing circle for as many as fifty children, singing songs, setting up the outdoor space that will include games, gross motor and fine motor activities,  and communicating positively with parents and teachers. You will also lead music class each day for 30 minutes from 10:30-11:00. Your full-time hours will be 10:00a-6:00p.

The ideal candidates will:

*Have at least three years of teaching experience or working in an after school program.

*Excellent classroom management

* Understand the pedagogy of Montessori and Reggio philosophy

*Have excellent communication skills both written and verbal

*Enjoy working in a collaborative team environment

The successful candidate will be professional, collaborative, and enthusiastic about participating in our dynamic community of intellectually curious, lifelong learners, all of whom are dedicated to professional development and a reflective teaching practice.
