The Hamlin School

Title: Lower School Spanish Teacher: Kindergarten-Grade 4

Requirements: Master’s Degree or equivalent in teaching and proficiency in Spanish language and instruction

Reports to: Lower School Division Head and Head of School

Primary Responsibilities:Classroom instruction in Lower School classrooms; development of curriculum, materials and resources; integration with Lower School curriculum areas and teachers; collaboration with colleagues to design experiences for students

Hours/Classification: Full Time, Exempt

Instruction in a world language at Hamlin is geared towards a model of proficiency by 8th grade.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, articulate and implement Spanish language program in collaboration with other language instructors K-8
  • Collaborate with homeroom teachers to integrate language instruction in other curricular areas
  • Design lessons which model 21st century skills and developmentally appropriate Spanish language acquisition
  • Identify materials, resources and technology needs for program
  • Include use of appropriate technology tools and resources for instruction
  • Create and update web page (s) and blog (s)
  • Communicate with parents about the program
  • Attend Grand Rounds for collaborative discussion and sharing of student concerns
  • Actively participate in faculty meetings, admissions and other school events
  • Pursue relevant opportunities for professional growth and development
  • Supervise students in other roles such as recess, lunch, field trips, etc.
  • Perform other duties consistent with the above responsibilities
