Summary:
San Francisco Waldorf High School is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Physical Education teacher to start in August 2021.
This is an exempt faculty position which includes six direct contact hours of teaching and twenty-four hours of responsibilities and duties as noted below.
Duties:
● Teach six PE lessons a week: two with Grade 9, two with Grade 10 and two with the Grade 11/12 PE Elective. Currently these classes are taught in the afternoon after 1:25.
● Coordinate the Grade 11 and 12 elective PE program:
o Create a list of electives for each block and coordinate teachers
o Organize student sign-ups for each elective and make rosters with registrar
o Coordinate with the Athletic Director on the use of vans for off-campus electives
● Assist Outdoor Education Coordinator with trip planning
● Administer the PE budget in collaboration with the Outdoor Education Coordinator, buying equipment, budgeting for programs and outside facilities, communicating with the business office etc.
● Write evaluation reports for students at the end of each semester
● Other administrative duties as necessary
● General Faculty Duties per .75FTE designation
Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree preferred
● Waldorf Teacher Training completed or in process, or the willingness to begin a Waldorf Teacher Training program by the second year of employment with SFWS
● Significant high school teaching or experience working with teens
● CPR/First Aid Training
Benefits and Compensation
This is a .75 FTE position. Benefits include medical, dental, flexible spending plans, retirement plan (employer contributions after one year), and prorated tuition remission for eligible dependents in our Nursery – 12th grade program (Staff fees apply). Salaries are paid on a 12-month schedule.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
● Be able to occasionally lift to 30 lbs.
● Work intermittently in outside weather conditions, including heat and cold
● Regularly sitting or standing 4-8 hours
