Kindergarten Assistant Teacher | People of Color in Independent Schools

Saint Andrew's Episcopal School

Saint Andrew’s Episcopal School in Saratoga, CA, is seeking an Assistant Kindergarten Teacher for the 2021-2022 school year. The successful candidate will join a community of dedicated, compassionate, energetic, and experienced adults – faculty and parents alike – who are committed to the mission “to develop as fully as possible the intellectual, spiritual, physical, and social capacities of each student.”

The Assistant Teacher supports the classroom teacher and is dedicated to a single grade level guided by the lead teacher. Assistant Teachers help with instruction of small groups, participate in all activities of the school including weekly grade-level meetings, faculty committees, Open Houses, and professional development opportunities.

The ideal candidate is an integral participant in the dynamic, highly functional grade-level team. With the guidance and support of the teachers, the Assistant Teachers will:

Collaborate with the lead teacher.
Be a team player.
Accept responsibility for small groups.
Exhibit effective organizational skills and time management.
Help prepare lessons, hands-on materials, and creative assignments.
Assist in leading the whole group, small group, and individual instruction.
Implement classroom management strategies.
Supervise recess and lunch (including rainy days).
Facilitate student conflict resolution.
Model good character showing patience, flexibility,  kindness, respect, and responsibility.
Attend all grade-level field trips.

Qualifications:

Experience working with young children.
Bachelor’s degree (preferred.)
