Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in elementary education or related field, Master’s preferred
Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience and a strong curricular background
Proficient technology skills including, but not limited to, taking attendance digitally, Microsoft Office and Google Suite (docs, sheets, drive, etc)
Familiar with literacy programs such as Lucy Calkins Reader’s/Writer’s Workshop and math curriculums such as New Perspectives (formerly Math in the City)
Experience with Universal Design for Learning, Responsive Classroom, Restorative Justice frameworks a plus
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Additional Preferred Qualifications

Ideal candidate possesses extensive knowledge of child development (developmentally appropriate teaching practices), culturally responsive, and responsible, pedagogy. The ideal candidate also possesses skills in innovative curriculum design in the K-4 grades. They are excited about collaborating with colleagues and mentoring a Teaching Fellow in the spirit of evolving their teaching practices and content and possess a  continued commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice.

 

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with grade level team and lower school specialists  to design and implement an interdisciplinary, thematic/inquiry based, experiential curriculum
Participate in all aspects of faculty life, including outdoor education and service-learning
Foster a love of learning in every student
Partner and regularly communicate with families to support and strengthen the home-school connection
Must be able to work in-person with students
