Front Desk Receptionist / Administrative Assistant

No Chinese language proficiency required

 

OPPORTUNITY

Join the vibrant community at the Chinese American International School’s 150 Oak campus as a high visibility member of our campus community. The Front Desk Receptionist/Administrative Assistant is the first point of contact for anyone entering the school’s main campus. The position’s core responsibilities are customer service and front desk traffic management. This is a full time, entry level, non-exempt position paid hourly.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Position responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

-Provide excellent customer service to the CAIS parent community (via email, in person and phone calls).
-Direct all incoming persons, phone calls, emails to the appropriate division or administrators.
-Be the go-to person for all CAIS students when they are lost on campus or need help.
-Be a second-line source of security (after NCIS) to watch out for unwanted visitors and take appropriate action.
-Assist and direct parent community as needed.
-Remind students to gather at the appropriate yard/space as needed
-Respond to all radio, main CAIS phone lines, emails and direct/assist as needed.
-Ensure that students who arrive on campus late sign in at the front desk
-Assist the Health center as needed
-Sort and distribute mail and deliveries to appropriate employees or departments.
-Conduct ID checks for individuals who are picking up students per policy.
-Updating the school calendar (shared duty with Communications Director)
-Assist with lunch distribution and assist students without lunches by contacting their parents.
-Be ready to respond and assist with various situations.
-During fire drills, collect class count info from all K and 1st grade teachers to report to administrators.
-Maintain professional relationships with counterparts at FAIS, as well as all FAIS, IHS, and NCIS employees.
-Occasional supervision of CAIS students may be required.
-Additional projects or providing assistance as directed.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

-Work experience in a customer service role
-Experience working with children
-Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
-Comfort with technology
-Dedication to equity and inclusion and ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds
-Commitment to school mission, policies, and initiatives
-Initial and continued tuberculosis clearance
-Initial and continued criminal background clearance

VALUED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

We value, but do not require, the following attributes:

-Bilingual: Mandarin/English
-Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
-Work experience at a school or college
-Familiarity with independent schools
-CPR and First Aid certified
-Experience working with a diverse community
