Lower School Counselor

Starts August 10, 2022 – 50% FTE position

Pay starts at 35,000-45,000 + based on experience.

Overview

The Lower School Counselor will:

Serve students in grades K-4th as a member of the student support team
Provide short-term individual + group counseling in support of emotional development + growth
Facilitate student groups that are responsive to student social and emotional needs, including social skills + affinity groups
Partner with the Upper School Counselor in developing all-school social and emotional learning goals
Collaborate with Head of Lower School, Learning Specialists, and teachers to support student social-emotional + learning needs
Organize family education centered on social + emotional health + wellness of children
Assist families with outside referrals + act as case manager between student support team, teachers + families
Coordinate outside referrals via curation of a diverse network of outside resources

We seek a team member who is a(n):

Talented, student-centered + inspiring counselor or therapist
Compassionate listener who is skilled + experienced in guiding students as well as collaborating with adults
Experienced with classroom teaching and/or youth group facilitation
Culturally competent, engaged community member
Excellent communicator + collaborator
Educator who holds a Masters in School Counseling, Counseling, Social Work or Clinical Psychology and MFT, LCSW, PPSC, or LPCC ( required or in progress)
