JOB TITLE: Middle School Mandarin Teacher Long-term Substitute

JOB STATUS: .75 FTE through the Fall Semester of the 2022/23 academic year

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Athenian School seeks a long-term substitute for the Fall 2022 semester to teach three sections of Middle School Mandarin – 1A, 1B, and 1C. In addition to classroom instruction, successful candidates will also be drawn to and contribute meaningfully to our experiential interdisciplinary learning approach – each week, the entire middle school steps out of the block schedule for daylong Focus Days. Given Athenian’s unique philosophy, it is important that faculty and staff embrace the school’s mission and academic objectives, and contribute to fostering the academic and personal development of students.
We are looking for candidates who are fluent in Mandarin and English with previous Middle School Mandarin teaching experience, knowledge of Chinese literature and culture, and a Bachelor’s degree. Candidates must also have a passion for working with adolescents and a commitment to democracy, justice, equity, inclusion, service, and environmental stewardship.
In addition to these responsibilities, faculty have the opportunity to coach a sport for a supplemental stipend.
