Overview of the Position

Prospect Sierra is a TK-8 independent school in El Cerrito, Ca. With approximately 470 students and over 100 faculty and staff, we are a robust community, looking to thrive and evolve. Our school has two campuses and the role of the Interim Director of Technology would oversee both. Our school has come a long way due to the efforts of the current and previous teams, now having consistent technology in every classroom, a 1:1 iPad program in many of the grade levels, and a dynamic colab (STEM/Maker) program.  The director will supervise a small but highly capable team of 3 tech leaders. The director is tasked with ensuring that all tech needs are met and that the team remains a cohesive efficient working group across two campuses. In addition, the director will be responsible for all network and tech material needs. This position will manage the general technology budget and be an organized leader that provides both current and future needs to be considered. Though this is a one-year position, there will be an opportunity to apply for a more permanent position, in the winter/spring. The ideal leader is not only knowledgeable but collaborative and sees the value in team cohesion.

Duties and Responsibilities

Oversee all things technology and work closely with team members to execute tech support for an active community;
Oversee the successful delivery of technology services, including network maintenance and upgrades, audio-visual needs, event support, and data;
Evaluate instructional technology tools and guide strategic and operational decisions involving hardware, software, and programs in service to enhanced student learning and teaching;
Coordinate major technology projects or initiatives;
Manage the technology budget;
Supervise the Tech team;
Meet with Technology Committee leads regularly to provide guidance and support
Continually develop relevant professional knowledge, skills, and abilities; and cross-train amongst the Tech team to build the team’s knowledge base and redundancy
Perform other duties as may be requested by the Head of School.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor of arts or science degree and/or professional coursework or certification, indicating training applicable to the responsibilities of the position
Prior supervision/management experience
Knowledge of current technological efficiencies and best practices in supporting a school that is tech-literate and growing in knowledge
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to create highly collaborative spaces for adults to be thought partners
Ability to take initiative, work passionately and joyfully, and collaborate effectively with diverse constituencies
Willingness to be a team player and show initiative
