Overview
Starts immediately, M-F 11 am – 3 pm (50% FTE position) with opportunity for more hours in Extended Day program
The Kindergarten Teaching Assistant will:
Assure students are joyfully + safely engaged in classroom activities + outdoor play
Support head teacher with overall operation of the classroom
Collaborate with the teaching team to work with individual children, small groups
Provide age-appropriate academic + social-emotional instruction + support to student
Organize + set up equipment +materials
Manage children + systems during play, class, + lunch
Communicate observations + insights to Head Teachers, including assessing + monitoring skill development
Guide student behavior patiently + supportively
Maintain an encouraging + positive attitude with students + colleagues
We seek a team member who is a(n):
Inspiring, student-centered educator (an Associate Degree with two-three years of successful work as a Teacher Assistant are recommended)
Experienced educator with knowledge of developmental stages + needs of children age 3-6
Excellent communicator with cultural competence
Flexible team mate who is willing to collaborate
Partner who is able to react quickly to the needs of children; lift + assist students (up to 40 lbs); lift +move classroom equipment (up to 20 lbs); can perform essential functions in the classroom.
Spanish language is a plus but not required.
