JOB TITLE: Accounts Payable Specialist
POSITION STATUS: Hourly, non-exempt, full-time (40 hours per week)

Position Summary
This position is responsible for full-cycle AP and is an active & integral participant of the Business Office team and organization. This role is responsible for financial processing for all procurement activities for the school and must apply accounting principles and handle work that is analytical, evaluative and advisory – this requires both an understanding of GAAP accounting principles and be savvy to work in different databases. Their duties include daily bookkeeping and record keeping, financial report and supporting the Business Office team for audit and tax filings. Also, they will actively participate in the month end process, fiscal year-end close and calendar year tax filings. This individual will need to be detail-oriented, a good communicator, organized and proficient in excel. Annual Salary Range: $85,000-$95,000
Responsibilities
Accounts Payable
Managing full-cycle accounts payable using accounting software and other programs
Data entry and verifies all expenses (i.e. invoices, reimbursements, agreements, corporate credit cards) are properly recorded including, but not limited to confirming appropriate approval and coding, understands proper period to expense according to GAAP
Manage weekly disbursements to ensure vendors are paid timely, outstanding checks are cleared
Analyzing workflow processes, make recommendations to improve efficiencies, and ensure compliance with internal controls and Business Office policies
Establishing and maintaining relationships with new and existing vendors, verify W-9s are current and on file, vendor set-up in accounting software, manage annual 1099 process
Maintain Professional Development records and reconcile against employee reimbursement requests
Submit monthly budget reports to budget managers and prepare all adjustments requested in our accounting software
Reconcile quarterly Sale Tax submissions
Support Biz Office with Annual Audit PBC list and documents
Maintain AP records per Record Retention policy
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor Degree or Equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
3+ years of accounts payable experience required; non-profit sector preferred
Strong planning, organizational and time management skills, as well as attention to detail and strong analytical problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate information clearly written and oral
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office especially Excel and Word
Ability and desire to work independently and as a team member with the community and other employees
Positive, upbeat and enthusiastic about working in a non-profit environment
