PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Athenian School is seeking a self-motivated systems administrator with extensive experience supporting technology services in an educational environment. As a key member of our technology team, you will be responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and support of the school’s technology infrastructure, laptops, desktops, and software systems. We are looking for candidates who can work closely with teachers, staff, parents, and students to ensure that our technology solutions are meeting the needs of the school community and promoting student learning. You will be responsible for maintaining the security and stability of the network and server infrastructure, troubleshooting technical issues, and providing training and support to users.

In addition to these responsibilities, employees  have the chance to apply for and serve as part of our residential life team which would include dormitory housing. Employees also have the opportunity to coach a sport for a supplemental stipend.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in a related field and a minimum of 3 years of experience in school systems administration. Candidates should also have a strong understanding of network infrastructure, security protocols, various educational software systems, databases, and be able to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong collaboration skills, the ability to work independently and with a broad range of stakeholders, strong organizational skills, and attention to detail. They must show a commitment to continuous learning and strong curiosity and awareness of emerging technologies.

REQUIRED SKILLS

Experience managing a complex network
Extensive knowledge implementing and managing Google Workspace and Microsoft 365
Fluency with JAMF or other MDM software
Broad knowledge of application software and operating systems (MAC OS, iOS, and Windows)  as used in a school environment
Fluency with Windows virtual servers
Familiarity with cybersecurity software, policy and protocols, RADIUS and 802.1x
Networking technology including VOIP, VLAN design and administration, routers and switching, wireless technology, cabling technology (fiber and copper), DHCP, WINS, DNS, Certificate services, Microsoft Azure/Active Directory
General database administration with experience in school database systems
Familiarity with audio visual systems

Athenian provides excellent benefits and salaries are competitive and commensurate with work experience and education. The salary range for this role is $125,000 – $140,000. Community members enjoy meals on campus and use of athletics facilities, including a pool, gym and fitness center.

All employees participate in school wide professional development, and have the opportunity to pursue a range of additional professional growth opportunities. These include, but are not limited to, funded participation in professional conferences and continuing education opportunities. Athenian provides needed training for CPR/AED certification.

All employees are expected to attend all-school functions relevant to their role and to participate in supporting the student experience with other school duties as requested by their direct supervisor.
