The Carey School, a PreSchool-Grade 5 independent school in San Mateo, CA, seeks an early childhood educator for a floating assistant teacher position for the 2023-2024 school year.
Our play based, full-day preschool program is rooted in the Developmentally Appropriate Practice and philosophies of the Reggio Emilia approach—providing structured and open-ended, child-directed play time for children to build SEL skills, develop relationships and “learn through doing”, using emergent themes.
Teachers work together to plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum and assessment that meets individual student needs. The preschool program works in partnership with parents, teachers and the K-5 campus to ensure that Carey’s youngest students are prepared for on-going learning success. Reporting to the Preschool Director, the PreSchool Floating Assistant will work to support preschool classrooms, providing nurturing care to students and additional administrative and instructional coverage for the preschool, including substitute teaching. Ideal candidates are pursuing a career in Early Childhood education, with a minimum of 12 ECE credits and at least 2 years of experience working with children ages 3-5 years-old; are flexible and self-motivated; highly collaborative and value strong relationships.
The anticipated salary range the school reasonably expects to pay candidates for this position is $50K – $60K, depending on factors such as experience or education.
