Lick-Wilmerding High School currently seeks a dedicated educator to join our Technical Arts Department as part-time 80% Design and Technology and Coding teacher beginning August 2023.
The ideal candidate should be excited about working with a team to deliver an accessible curriculum for students from all walks of life in a part-shop, part-lab, part-makerspace environment filled with loads of amazing tools. You should see computer science as a living and flexible medium that can guide students to be more creative, confident, and crafty. You will be working collaboratively in a department with six other instructors whose strengths include: object design, woodworking, metalworking, jewelry, digital fabrication, sewing, and electronics.

Core Job Responsibilities:
Ideal candidates will demonstrate the capacity to teach (or learn to teach) at least three classes (two preps per semester): two sections of a required 9th grade Design and Technology course and one section of Analog & Digital.
Qualifications
- Experience programming and working with computational algorithms. (This positions classes primarily use: Java script, P5.js, and Python)
- Some familiarity with 3D modeling (Preferably Rhino) or open to learning the basics before starting
- Experience with circuits & electronics
- Some familiarity or commitment to learn laser and vinyl cutting
- Experience with computational design, a design process and design thinking
- A persistent – we can figure this out – attitude toward challenges
- Familiarity and practice with anti-racist, culturally-competent approaches to teaching and learning
- Experience with student-centered teaching and learning, including differentiated instruction for students across various academic and social backgrounds
- Demonstrated interest in curriculum development, innovation, and professional growth
- A commitment to work collaboratively on a grade level team, as well as across disciplines
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
Salary Range: The current base salary for full-time regular faculty ranges from $72,500 to $144,700 depending on the candidate’s experience and qualifications. Base salary is exclusive of fringe benefits and retirement plan employer contributions.
