PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Athenian School seeks an Assistant Director of Residential Life (ADRL), who will be an integral part of the school’s Upper School boarding program. In addition to serving as one of three Dormitory Heads, the ADRL will report to the Dean of Residential Life and work with dorm staff. The ADRL will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of boarding operations, promoting the academic, social, and emotional growth, and well-being of the program’s students and faculty. The ADRL will oversee the day-to-day operations which includes scheduling activities, programs, transportation, and managing the residential staff and students. The ADRL will play a key role in designing and implementing the residential life curriculum, including academic support and meaningful programmatic dorm activities. The ADRL is responsible for planning weekend activities and special event weekends, training residential staff on our student management systems, and overseeing dorm and residential life budgets.
Employees also have the opportunity to coach a sport for an additional stipend.

We seek candidates who have expertise and knowledge to train and supervise Dorm Heads, Assistant Dorm Heads, Residential Dorm Heads, and Prefects.We seek candidates with a high school degree or higher and experience leading dormitory life.
Daily desk work includes significant amounts of telephone and computer time as well as mobility around the entire campus. This includes frequent walking inside and outside, managing stairs as a part of daily routines, lifting heavy equipment as well as responding to injury/illness incidents; night-time and weekend duty responsibilities.

Athenian provides excellent benefits and salaries are competitive and commensurate with work experience and education. Community members enjoy meals on campus and use of athletics facilities, including a pool, gym and fitness center. The salary for this role will range from $65,000 – $75,000, and this position includes a two or three bedroom dormitory residence and access to free meals when school is in session.
All employees participate in school wide professional development, and have the opportunity to pursue a range of additional professional growth opportunities. These include, but are not limited to, funded participation in professional conferences and continuing education opportunities. Athenian provides needed training for CPR/AED certification.
All employees are expected to attend all-school functions relevant to their role and to participate in supporting the student experience with other school duties as requested by their direct supervisor.
