Pay Rate: $31-37/hour depending on experience

Position Summary
The technical director will be responsible for the sound and lighting for all mainstage productions, choir concerts, dance concerts and additional events that are held on campus at Presentation High School. They will be responsible for designing and assisting the students/parents in building the sets for the school’s mainstage productions.
Duties and Specific Responsibilities
Operate, maintain, and safeguard the technical assets of the theater, including supervising the use of lighting, sound, communications equipment, and the use and maintenance of theater facilities.
Hang and focus lights (in addition to working with the current light plot)
Design lights and sound for the theater’s three mainstage productions, choir concerts, dance concerts, and events that take place on campus.
Mentor technical theater students who are interested in designing lights and/or sound for shows at school.
Build sets and props for the three mainstage productions.
Work with the technical theater students at set builds, technical rehearsals, and performances to teach them how to build, run the sound board, use follow spots, and other necessary jobs to make the show run.
Set up sound equipment for shows including but not limited to: microphones, cables, sound boards.
Facilitate internal/external use of the theater and work with relevant parties to ensure users understand the safety, technical characteristics and other areas of facility operations.
Maintain the master calendar for theater use including scheduling and approving the dates of auditions, rehearsals, performances for the Theater program and other internal/external use.
Set up and break down the theater for all functions including but not limited to college and counseling student/parent events, admissions events, dance/choir performances, lecture series, middle school performances, and class meetings.
Assess and monitor the condition of theater equipment including lighting, sound, and rigging equipment; arrange for repair and replacement within budgetary constraints; perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
Work with the Facilities Director regarding maintenance of the theatre and capital purchases of technical equipment.
Oversee and/or coordinate providing sound for schoolwide events including but not limited to masses, assemblies, and other activities as deemed necessary by the administration and/or Facilities Director.
Possibly teach a section of performing arts class, depending on experience & interest.

Education & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree
2-4 years technical theater experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong knowledge of theatrical lighting and sound design
Comfort working with power tools
Knowledge of lighting and sound boards

The Theater Technical Director must be able to
Lift and/or carry 50-75 lbs
Sit, stand, walk, climb stairs or ladder and reach
Primary hours are noon-6:30, Monday through Friday with some additional evenings and weekends required
Work with frequent interruptions
Work Environment
This position works primarily in the Valenzuela Theater set shop, theater and booth.
