Overview of Position

The successful candidate will report to the Elementary School Division Head and be responsible for teaching physical education across Transitional Kindergarten (TK) through 4th grades for the 2023-2024 academic year.

Primary Responsibilities

Teach TK through 4th-grade physical education classes in a developmentally appropriate, engaging way and instilling the value of “fitness for life.”
In addition to lead teaching responsibilities, support other PE teacher at the elementary level with co-teaching support, as dictated by the weekly schedule and decided upon in collaboration with the supervisor as class needs shifts throughout the year.
Create meaningful relationships and an inclusive classroom environment with the students and help them navigate their social, emotional, and academic lives.
Evaluate all students on progress reports at the end of each semester.
Communicate effectively with parents.
Work collaboratively with the Athletics department to facilitate end-of-year Field Day.
Participate in other school-wide activities throughout the year, such as committees, department and staff meetings, and occasional evening or weekend school events.

Qualifications

The candidate must have:

Bachelor of arts or bachelor of science degree, preferably in Physical Education
Commitment to early adolescent education and social/emotional development
Strong organizational, communication, and record-keeping skills
Ability and willingness to work in teams and collaborate extensively with colleagues
Experience with differentiated learning and teaching styles
Ability to foster strong parent connections
Initiative
Sense of humor
