Overview of Position
Reporting to the Director of Extended Programs (EP), this position is responsible for providing administrative support and student supervision, with an expectation of program leadership at either/both Prospect Sierra campuses if the Director of EP is away. This role is exempt, year-round and will average 80% FTE with full benefits, paid time off and paid holidays.
Responsibilities
Extended Programs:
- Meet weekly with the Director of Extended Programs (EP) to assess needs, address concerns, and determine priorities for Extended Programs at both campuses.
- Learn our registration/payment system (called Curacubby).
- Assist in managing the day-to-day needs of all extended programs.
- Conduct daily attendance and dismissal.
- Communicate with families as necessary.
- Collaborate and coordinate daily changes to individual dismissal options.
- Along with the EP Director, supervise the EP staff.
- Collaborate with the Director of EP, and other administrators as needed
- Monitor and evaluate the necessary conditions for supporting and encouraging the social, emotional, and physical safety and growth of each student while in extended programs.
- Establish strong relationships with parents and community members for all extended programs.
- Maintain inventory and order supplies, including food, classroom materials, and first aid supplies.
- Consult with the Director of EP to assess and innovate current EP systems/processes.
- Communicate promptly with families and coworkers regarding programmatic questions and logistics.
- Ensure safety practices are followed by staff and students.
- Partner with the Director of EP to arrange staffing for any evening school events at both campuses where childcare is provided.
Enrichment Offerings:
- Assist in the creation of enrichment schedule and communication with enrichment teachers, parents, and students.
- Ensure students are attending enrichment classes and accounting for their return to EP.
- Ensure that enrichment teachers are aware of and are following safety protocols.
- Document joyful moments in enrichment classes for sharing with our community/marketing materials.
Summer Programs:
- Along with the EP Director, serve as a main point of contact for summer families.
- Support the Director of EP in the planning for summer programs throughout the year.
- Work an adjusted schedule during the actual summer programming dates (mid-June to end of July).
- Assess daily staffing absences, if needed, and arrange substitutes; serve as summer sub, if needed.
- Document the camp’s events and create/send out a weekly newsletter.
- Manage attendance effort; coordinate with teachers to ensure attendance is recorded and reported.
Additional Duties:
- Attend school functions and events as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of EP and Head of School.
Required Qualifications
- Student care and supervision experience
- Staff supervision experience
- Appreciation for and desire to work with TK-8th grade students
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to take initiative, work passionately and joyfully, and collaborate effectively with diverse constituencies
- Willingness to be a team player, show initiative, and take on leadership roles as needed
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask
- Flexibility
- A passionate commitment to creating an innovative, joyful environment for students
- Understanding of the essential role social-emotional literacy plays in the workplace and interest in the application of SEL within the educational setting
- Knowledge of identity safe and anti-bias educational practices
- Google and/or Microsoft Suite, and any experience with a registration platform
- Bachelor’s degree and/or professional coursework or certification indicating training applicable to the responsibilities of the position
In addition to the required qualifications, desirable additional skills include:
- Some experience participating in a school-aged program (school-based or summer programs)
- Understanding of the process of hiring, training, and supervising staff effectively
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- A nuanced understanding of DEI/social justice knowledge from a personal or programmatic perspective
- First Aid/CPR training
Salary
The salary is competitive. Compensation range is $55,000-$70,000 based on experience.
