The Extended Day and Classroom Support Teacher advances The Berkeley School’s mission and vision by…
- working in the Extended Day team as a teacher in a culturally responsive after-school educational and recreational program and environment that meets the social and emotional needs of K-8 students as effectively as possible
- supervising playground games and activities, and maintaining a structured, safe, and organized extended day program during hours of operation (3-6 p.m. Monday-Thursday, and 2-6 p.m. Friday)
differentiating to meet the needs of students and caring for the school environment - embodying principles of equity and inclusion that promote responsive teaching practices and create optimal environments for each of our students
- supervising non-teaching periods; substitute teaching as needed; attending requisite meetings and teacher in-service days, professional development, and specified all-school events as directed; and performing other duties as needed and requested by the Extended Day Director, Director of K-8 Teaching & Learning or the Head of School.

- Compensation is $25.25 per hour
- Part-time at 16 hours per week

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree;
- Flexibility and resilience in a dynamic school environment and a willingness to help with emergent tasks;
- Experience, enthusiasm and ability to engage with K-8 students in the classroom and on the playground;
- Understanding of child development, different learning preferences, socio-emotional development;
- Experience with neurodiversity in elementary/middle schools, or a willingness to learn;
- Well-developed equity literacy skills and competence regarding identity and inclusion, with a commitment to culturally responsive and anti-bias practices;
- Strong planning and organization skills;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with a high level of personal and professional integrity;
- Proactive, timely, and clear communication skills with students, families, and colleagues;
- Bilingual (English, Spanish) added plus.
