Website Menlo School

We are looking for a creative, experienced videographer/video producer to envision, film, edit, and produce videos that authentically tell the story of a Menlo education to a range of audiences, including current students and parents, prospective families, and alumni. A member of the School’s highly collaborative communications team, a successful candidate must be able to build rapport and make strong connections with students, faculty, and other community members. This is a full-time, in-person, year-round position based at the School’s campus in Atherton, CA. The anticipated start date is May 15, 2024.

Duties include:

Envisioning, designing, filming, and editing videos that embody and foster Menlo’s brand and increase affinity among parents, students, and alumni
Transforming exemplary student work and accomplishments in academics, arts, and athletics into digital stories that capture the Menlo experience
Strategizing and creating video content for the website, digital magazine, various community emails, school leadership, as well as other regular communications
Producing several highlight videos per year (first day of school, Thanksgiving, Holiday assembly, last day of school, dance concert)
Producing promotional videos for major events such as arts productions and athletics events
Strategizing and creating video profiles of alumni
Capturing and documenting content from lectures and educational presentations to share with a wider audience, such as assembly and other guest speakers
Producing high-quality videos that share the impact of giving and build enthusiasm for the School’s Development efforts, specifically for the Annual Fund and Auction
Managing a digital archive of the School’s video assets
Providing and posting regular video content for the School’s social media platforms
Collaborate with the school’s primary photographer and occasionally photograph school functions
Teaching and guiding faculty, students, and parent volunteers with video needs and/or documenting special projects and learning experiences

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate should have exceptional storytelling abilities and an eye for cinematography. They should have proven experience operating professional video and still photographic equipment as well as planning shoots, filming and capturing a variety of footage, setting lighting, editing and color-correcting footage, scriptwriting, conducting interviews, and sound mixing/audio balancing. They should be an experienced video editor who is fluent in editing software such as Adobe Premiere and After Effects. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and a background in photography are also desired. This individual should be able to multitask and work independently and also collaborate with different types of people and departments across campus. They need the ability to build rapport, make connections, and put students, faculty, and other video subjects at ease. It’s also beneficial if the candidate has a passion for education and enjoys being in a school campus environment and working with students and educators. Must be comfortable with a flexible schedule as several school events occur during evenings and/or weekends.

Pay range:

In the spirit of pay transparency we share the base salary range for this position: $95,000 – $130,000 per year. Base salary is exclusive of fringe benefits, retirement plan employer contributions or potential stipends (for eligible employees). Pay ranges at Menlo are reasonable estimates of what the School anticipates paying for a role but are not guaranteed. If hired at Menlo School, your final base salary will be determined by factors such as skills, education, experience, job level, part-time status and number of months of work per academic year. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity with our current employees as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the generous range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range is not typical for Menlo School in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.
