Lick-Wilmerding High School currently seeks a dedicated educator to join our English Department as a short-term substitute for approximatley six weeks, beginning in late April until the send of the school year. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining the continuity of the academic program and ensuring a positive learning experience for students during this period.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate a strong practice of and commitment to anti-racist and identity-inclusive pedagogy that supports students of all backgrounds to succeed academically, collaborate, and develop self-reflection tools for personal growth. Applicants must also be able to demonstrate a strong practice of and commitment to collaboration with colleagues and a deep love for teaching writing, critical thinking, and appreciation of literature.
The substitute will be responsible for the following:
1. Teaching two sections of 10th-grade as part of a teaching team with a pre-established curriculum.
2. Teaching two sections of a 12th-grade seminar based on the novel Crime and Punishment.
3. Administer and grade final exams for both 10th and 12th-grade classes.

This includes, but is not limited to, furthering the mission of the school through participating in our Advisory, Public Purpose, and DEI Programs; as well as routine attendance in all curricular team meetings, department meetings, faculty meetings, and office hours to support students when needed.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience in teaching and grading in English courses at the high school level.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a teaching team and follow a set curriculum.
- Ability to adapt to an existing curriculum, as needed. Familiarity with the novel Crime and
- Punishment is a plus.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills.
- Degrees in English and Education preferred.

Status: Part-time, Exempt
Salary Range: Full time salary scale is $72,500 to $152,200; Leave Replacement is up to 80% time and salary is based on years of experience and length of term.
