Reports to:  Lower School Division Head

Primary Responsibilities:  Teach music classes Kindergarten-Grade 2; collaborate and co-create lesson plans with colleagues to design experiences for students; communicate and partner with parents and grade-level teams to provide information about student learning

Hours/Classification: Part-time (70%- K-2) or Full-time (100%- K-4)); Exempt; Academic Year (10 months)

Salary Range: $55,000-$100,000 Annually (Salaries are based on years of experience)

Professional Responsibilities:

  • Design, articulate, and implement Lower School Music Program program for a range of learners in Kindergarten, Grade 1, and Grade 2
  • Work in close partnership with other music teachers to advance a K-8 music program that is aligned with the school’s mission of excellence in education for girls
  • Collaborate with Lower School homeroom teachers and other specialists to integrate music instruction in other curricular areas
  • Work effectively with young girls across a wide range of musical and motor abilities
  • Lead musical performances annually for each grade level for parents/guardians and the larger school community
  • Design and execute lessons which foster collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking
  • Draw upon a wide range of musical genres, time periods, and cultures in units of study
  • Identify materials, resources, and technology needs for program
  • Use appropriate technology tools and resources for instruction
    Create and update web page(s) and blog(s) for marketing and communication purposes
  • Communicate with Lower School parents about the goals of the music program
  • Attend collaborative and confidential discussions to share information about student needs
  • Actively participate in division meetings, admissions gatherings, and other important school events (i.e. Grandparents and Special Friends Day)
  • Pursue relevant opportunities for professional growth and development
  • Evaluate students on a semester schedule with written report cards
  • Supervise students in other venues (i.e. recess, lunch, field trips)
  • Perform other duties consistent with the above responsibilities
