PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Athenian School is seeking a technical theater teacher and theater manager to teach students about the principles of technical theater including lighting, sound, props, costumes, scenery, sets, scheduling, budgeting, and teamwork. They are responsible for managing pre- and post-production services, managing all stage crews and students assisting in technical theater management during all performances in our main theater, and working in close collaboration with the Director to create checklists, plans, and timelines for design, build, and strike for all arts productions. They will coordinate and manage all aspects of theatrical productions and concerts, including set design, construction, lighting, sound, costumes, props, and special effects. They will attend performances and rehearsals that occur outside of regular school hours. They will maintain proper functioning of the theater, office, backstage areas, costume room, green room, and storage sheds, ensuring it meets safety and performance standards. They will collaborate with the Arts Department Chair to develop and manage budgets for each production, ensuring efficient resource allocation.
CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Successful candidates will demonstrate a clear commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion to support students from a broad range of backgrounds and experiences. They will possess the ability to engage effectively with students and colleagues, strong organizational skills, and an understanding of and appreciation for working with adolescents. We seek candidates with a BFA or higher and/or significant technical experience working on theater productions.
In addition to these responsibilities, faculty have the chance to apply for and serve as part of our residential life team which would include dormitory housing. Faculty also have the opportunity to coach a sport for a supplemental stipend.

Athenian provides excellent benefits and salaries are competitive and commensurate with work experience and education. Our faculty salary range is $59,775 -108,150 in addition to stipends for completed Masters and Doctoral degrees. Community members enjoy meals on campus and use of athletics facilities, including a pool, gym and fitness center.
All employees participate in school wide professional development, and have the opportunity to pursue a range of additional professional growth opportunities. These include, but are not limited to funded participation in professional conferences and continuing education opportunities. Athenian provides needed training for CPR/AED certification.
All employees are expected to attend all-school functions relevant to their role and to participate in supporting the student experience with other school duties as requested by their direct supervisor.
