Status:                        Substitute; On-Call; Non-exempt, hourly

Pay Rate:                   $35.00 per hour

 

Bentley School is a K-12 co-educational, independent day school located on two campuses in Oakland (K-8) and Lafayette (9-12), California. Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

 

Bentley School seeks substitute teachers to teach on an as needed basis across subjects. The ideal candidate is committed to academic excellence and understands the social and emotional growth and development of K-8th graders.  They will bring strong cultural competency and the capacity to work with students, families and colleagues, as well as experience teaching in elementary and/or middle school with solid classroom management skills, are capable of teaching in core subjects, and hold a Bachelor’s degree or more.  The individual will have a strong commitment to meeting the learning needs of each student, a teaching style that supports differentiation of instruction, a collaborative spirit, and an interest in building community in and outside of the classroom.

 

In addition to classroom teaching, the teacher will support additional duties for the wellbeing of students, including assisting with lunch and/or recess supervision or pick up/drop off duties.  A typical day can start as early as 7:30am, and ends by 4:00pm.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

●      Bachelor of Arts or greater

●      Minimum of 3 years teaching experience and/or experience working with children in an educational setting
