Sacramento Country Day School, the regional leader in Pre-K-12th grade independent school education since 1964, seeks a Lower School Physical Education Teacher for Kindergarten through second grade. This is a full-time position with benefits (100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision premiums for employee only), beginning August 16, 2025. The salary range is $52,000 – $95,000 depending on education and years of experience.

We are looking for an educator who is:

  • An expert at building a classroom community
  • Skilled in developing and teaching the K-2 PE curriculum of movement education
  • A great collaborator who works with teachers to integrate their subjects into PE
  • Engages with parents as partners in their children’s growth and development
  • Can meet the needs of a wide range of learners
  • Responsive Classroom training is a plus
  • Has experience with Elementary Movement Education including but not limited to George Graham, Holt, Hale, Parker, Robert Pangrazi

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology or Physical Education
  • Two years or more of PE teaching experience at the Lower School level
  • Single subject teaching credential preferred (CCTC approved program)
  • Curriculum development experience
  • Openness and flexibility in designing improved learning experiences
  • Values collegial collaboration and individual improvement
  • A commitment to advancing diversity, equity, inclusivity, and belonging

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. The ability to speak clearly and coherently is also necessary. On occasion, the employee is required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, run, and/or jump.

School requirements: background check, First Aid/CPR trained (school sponsored), negative TB result.

Country Day enrolls over 580 students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. The Lower School serves roughly 260 students in pre-kindergarten through 5th grade.
