Located in the Presidio of San Francisco, The Bay School is an independent, college preparatory high school committed to providing its students with a challenging, innovative curriculum and a collaborative, supportive community. We are seeking an Admission Associate to be part of the four-person Admission office. The Admission Associate is integral to the success of the school’s admission efforts as he/she/they are often the first point of contact for interested families; moreover, the Admission Associate provides a range of administrative supports essential to the effective functioning of the office.
There are two Admission Associates, each of whom reports directly to the Director of Admission and Tuition Assistance. Although the two associates share duties, working closely and collaboratively to ensure completion of all functions, each will be assigned a primary focus area for which they are the point-person.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing a superior experience to applying and enrolled families (i.e. excellent, error-free service, delivered with warmth, inclusivity, efficiency, and a high degree of professionalism)
- Initiating and managing communication with families throughout all phases of the admission and enrollment processes
- Inputting, updating, analyzing, and reporting all admission data accurately and intelligibly
- Providing administrative and logistic support for all admission events, admission deliberations, and admission decisions
- Serving as a “brand ambassador” for the school
- Providing administrative support for other departments as assigned
- Supporting the school as needed (e.g. attendance, chaperoning, etc.)
To all of these responsibilities, the Admission Associate brings an attention to detail and deadlines, a team-orientation, a growth mindset, and an ability to initiate within the context of our school mission and culture.
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some weekends and evenings
- A valid and clear California driver’s license and the ability to drive self and/or students to school visits and functions away from campus
- Ability to lift 25 lbs

- Courageous – willing to speak his/her/their mind and make tough decisions; passionate about admission work and the mission of the school
The ideal candidate will also possess:
- a bachelor’s degree
- oral and written fluency in a second language, preferably Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin or Vietnamese
- excellent oral and written communication skills in English
- experience in database management and reporting; experience with Ravenna is a plus
- demonstrated commitment to anti-bias work and cultural competency – including the ability to work effectively and communicate authentically with a diverse population of students and their families
- significant experience working with adolescents in a school or camp setting
- abundant energy, optimism, a sense of humor, and the ability to stay calm and focused in a busy work environment filled with teenagers
- appreciation for Bay’s mission and approach to education and the ability to communicate these effectively to prospective families
