Full-time Exempt Position: Associate Director of Advancement, Alumni Giving and Engagement
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Advancement, the Associate Director of Advancement, Alumni Engagement and Giving, is a newly created role responsible for managing the School’s integrated alumni engagement and annual giving program.
About the Position:
In collaboration with the Director of Advancement, create and implement a comprehensive annual giving and alumni engagement program that meets the needs of alumni and assists the School in realizing its long-term goals and objectives, including maximizing philanthropic support, providing opportunities for alumni to engage with current students and programs, and enhancing the ability for alumni to network with one-another.
Essential Duties:
- Maintain a portfolio of alumni engagement prospects.
- Execute Annual Fund strategies (cultivation, solicitation and stewardship) for alumni and alumni parents, including the recruitment of volunteers, collateral development, and segmentation.
- Serve as the principal liaison with the School’s alumni council and grow its role in alumni programming and volunteer leadership.
- Partner with the Director of Communications to create an effective communications and marketing strategy for Athenian alumni and alumni parents, including but not limited to, content development of the monthly e-newsletter, event invitations, and social media posts.
- Create and effectively execute 5-10 high-impact events and activities for alumni, annually, including 2-3 regional events that may require travel.
- Continually benchmark with peer schools and alumni programs and develop quantitative measures for success, including but not limited to participation and philanthropic revenue goals.
- Engage in ongoing evaluation of programs and activities and develop new programs as necessary.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 2-3 years alumni relations, fundraising, or admissions experience.
- Familiarity with the independent school environment, preferably as an employee or student.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
- Ability to connect and build relationships with a wide variety of individuals.
- Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills, and demonstrated use of initiative.
- Fluency in MS Office Suite, and Google apps.
- Experience leveraging email marketing platforms and social media to distribute content and engage alumni, donors, or customers.
- Experience with Raiser’s Edge Version 7 and/or Raiser’s Edge NXT a plus.
- Project management experience a plus.
- A bachelor’s degree is required.
- Some travel required, along with the ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends.
