Associate Director of Health and Wellness
Responsibilities of Associate Director of Health and Wellness
The Associate Director of Health and Wellness provides services integral to the well-being of students at O’Dowd. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to teaching and mentoring senior Health and Wellness Leaders, the development of a limited therapy program, supervision of Associate and Trainee therapists, and planning Parent Education events.
Coordinate Parent Education Events
Plan and execute evening events in response to parent feedback, climate survey data, and in coordination with school initiatives
Work in partnership with Chair of Parent Education of Dragon Parents and Guardians
Work in partnership with Associate Principals and Directors to coordinate with school initiatives
Coordinate Safe Environment Curriculum
Integrate relevant curriculum focused on student health and safety in relationship into classes in all grade levels
Develop curriculum that meets the mandate of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and complies with the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People
Document compliance and report to Diocese or Oakland
Teach Health and Wellness Senior Leaders Class
Teach year-long class focused on peer health education and peer support for school community
Coordinate application and selection process with CMT, Eco-Leaders, Solidarity in Action, Student Athlete Leadership Team
Build Cohort of Trainees and Associates each academic year
Interview and select Trainees and AssociatesSpecial focus on building cohort able to serve a diverse student community
Supervision of Trainees and Associates
Comply with Board of Behavioral Health responsibilities of supervisors
Provide weekly individual, triadic, and/or group supervision
Provide monthly trainings to develop clinical competencies of Trainees and AssociatesSpecial focus on developing competencies related to serving a diverse student community
Evaluate clinical competencies or Trainees and Associates
Manage and monitor referrals, scheduling, communications, and records
Support Student Orientations and Retreats
Support the integration of social-emotional competencies into student orientations and retreats
Support Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Administer and analyze school climate survey data
Provide Crisis Planning and Support
Curate resources for school response to crisis
Advise crisis response team
Provide Faculty and Staff Education and Support
Provide resources to school community to raise awareness of and build competencies in social and emotional and trauma informed approaches to teaching and learning
Council Membership and Team Participation
Participant in Core Care Team
Participant in Student Safety and Support Team
The Associate Director of Health and Wellness reports to the Director of Counseling
Education and required Qualifications:
Masters in Counseling Psychology, Social Work, or related field
License to practice psychotherapy in California in good standing
Must meet minimum qualifications of the Board of Behavioral Sciences for supervising Trainee and Associate therapist
Experience in a high school educational setting highly preferred
Experience supervising Trainee and Associate therapist highly preferred
High School teaching experience highly preferred
