Salary Range: $141,000 – $176,000 DOE

Job Overview:
The Director of Technology, Data, and Innovation at Bishop O’Dowd High School is both a strategic and hands-on role responsible for setting and leading the vision for the use of data and technology in support of Bishop O’Dowd’s mission. This position requires exceptional communication and leadership skills. Incumbents should possess a combination of experience in identifying innovative educational trends, leading strong data-driven practices in schools, leading and implementing instructional technology and blended learning, managing data systems operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting, and a general understanding of technology and IT management. The ability to successfully manage a team of IT professionals is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Educational Technology Leadership: Develop a vision and strategic plan for the use of technology in education, reflecting best practices in private, Catholic schools. Focus on enhancing student learning experiences and teacher effectiveness through innovative technology solutions.
- Data Analysis, Reporting and Data Based Decisions : Build and maintain the data architectures and systems to enhance student and school performance, engagement, and learning outcomes, develop the rigorous analytical reports and tools that will successfully mine student and teacher data and drive decision-making and instructional practices to tailor educational strategies that address individual learning needs, and ensure every student has the opportunity to achieve their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive environment. This involves leveraging technology to identify trends, highlight areas requiring intervention, and support evidence-based decision-making, thereby fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability within the school community. Coordinate high-quality data practices across the organization. Communicate such findings to key stakeholders both internal and external to Bishop O’Dowd High School.
- Network / Infrastructure Accessibility, Stability, and Security: Responsible for the maintenance and troubleshooting of vital systems and tools for all students, faculty, and staff. Maintains ultimate oversight and working knowledge for the school’s data systems including its student information system (SIS), learning management platform (LMS), and other systems the school relies on for day-to-day operations.
- AI and Emerging Technology Integration: Lead the exploration and integration of artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies into the school’s educational and administrative processes. Focus on leveraging these technologies to enhance learning experiences, improve operational efficiency, and prepare students for a technologically advanced future.
- Community Engagement and Collaboration: Foster strong relationships with faculty, staff, students, and parents to understand and meet their technology needs. Promote a culture of collaboration in technology-related decision-making and initiatives.
- Curriculum Integration: Work closely with academic leaders to ensure that technology effectively supports and enhances the curriculum and teaching methodologies. Encourage the use of technology as a tool for innovative teaching and learning.
- Infrastructure and Resource Management: Oversee the school’s technology infrastructure, including infrastructure planning, network management, hardware, software, and security systems. Ensure the effective deployment of resources and technology tools that meet the needs of the school community.
- Professional Development: Oversee the develop and implement ongoing professional development for faculty and staff to ensure effective use of technology in teaching and administrative processes. Maintains their own professional development in emergent technology trends in schools and working knowledge of school systems.
- Policy Development and Compliance: Develop and enforce policies regarding technology use, ensuring compliance with Diocesan Technology Policy, education code, legal and educational standards. Stay informed about legal and ethical issues related to technology in education.
- Fiscal Responsibility: Manage the technology budget with an emphasis on cost-effective solutions and long-term sustainability. Oversee the procurement process and vendor relationships.
- Future Trends and Innovations: Stay abreast of emerging trends in educational technology, evaluating and proposing new technologies or methodologies that could benefit the school.
- Disaster Recovery and Risk Management: Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans for technology systems, ensuring data integrity and system availability.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Education Technology, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in a technology leadership role, with a strong preference for experience in Catholic or private independent schools.
- Data analysis, coding, and programming experience.
- Strong working knowledge and experience with the following systems/tools: PowerSchool (data import/export, schedule building, etc.) Schoology (or similar LMS), SchoolAdmin, FinalSite, Raiser’s Edge, FileMaker Pro, Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite.
- Comprehensive knowledge of current educational technology practices and trends.
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage budgets, and develop strategic plans.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated success in integrating technology into an educational setting.
