Position Overview:

The Bay School of San Francisco seeks a Campaign Manager/Major Gifts Officer to lead The Keys Campaign, a five-year, $10 million comprehensive campaign that will build Bay’s first endowment (a $4 million goal) and fund the school’s Strategic Plan initiatives (a $6 million goal). This position reports to the Director of Advancement, in close partnership with the Head of School, the Board of Trustees, and lead volunteers.

This role is a full-time position and member of the Advancement Office, with responsibility for the overall management and day-to-day operations of the campaign and corresponding cultivation of major contributors. Following the conclusion of The Keys Campaign in 2023, the position will continue to oversee the major gifts program while spearheading the planning of a subsequent campaign.

Key Responsibilities:   

  • In collaboration with the Head of School and the Director of Advancement, lead and manage all aspects of The Keys Campaign.
  • Manage and continually refine the prospect pipeline and the moves management process.
  • Partner closely with campaign volunteers and the Head of School and their portfolio assignments.
  • Staff the Campaign Committee and its individual members.
  • Develop and implement campaign documents including operating, communications and stewardship plans; timetable; and budget.
  • Research and identify campaign prospects at the leadership as well as participation levels.
  • Plan and implement all campaign and major donor cultivation and appreciation events and activities.
  • Develop targeted cultivation/solicitation/stewardship strategies.
  • Oversee campaign internal reports to ensure that trustees, staff, and campaign volunteers are informed of campaign progress, metrics and analysis.
  • Prepare comprehensive briefing documents for volunteer and staff solicitors.
  • Manage the annual Senior Class Gift endowment campaign and staff the volunteer committee.
  • Design and implement a comprehensive major gifts program.
  • Manage a portfolio of 25 major gifts prospects at the mid-level. Develop and implement upgrade strategies.
  • Oversee donor recognition, including acknowledgments.
  • Serve as an essential member of the Development Department and as a member of the Advancement Team.
  • Work to support the school’s goals in diversity, equity, and inclusion.

 

Qualifications of the Ideal Candidate:

  • Minimum eight years fundraising experience, with five or more in campaign management and major gifts.
  • Excellent leadership, management, organizational, project management, analytical, and entrepreneurial skills.
  • Desire to actively participate in The Bay School community.  
  • Demonstrated portfolio management and solicitation track record.
  • Successful partnering with and managing high-level volunteers.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, oral and written communications skills.
  • Experience designing and implementing fundraising plans.
  • Event management experience.
  • Proficiency with information technology and moves management functionality; Raiser’s Edge experience desirable.
  • Dedication to anti-bias and equity work; understanding of the social justice dimensions of education.
  • Strong cultural competency.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
