Position Overview
Job Title: Senior Advancement Manager
Status: Year-round, exempt
Reports to: Director of Advancement
Come join a creative Advancement office dedicated to cultivating relationships within the Drew community and building a robust culture of philanthropy and engagement at the school. The Senior Advancement Manager will be primarily responsible for planning and executing the annual fund and advancement events to help meet a $1.5M annual fundraising goal.
The Advancement Team is responsible for partnering with key community stakeholders to deepen engagement, participation and support throughout the arc of each family’s involvement with Drew. The person in this position is also responsible for managing the database and identifying opportunities to increase financial support of Drew’s programs using analytics and reporting.
This is an exciting moment to join the team, as during the 21-22 school year, Drew will be launching an endowment campaign and there will be opportunities to participate in that endeavor. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker capable of executing a variety of projects independently who is excited to work in a fast-paced high school community that values expertise and lifelong learning as well as close personal relationships.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Annual Fund
- Apply strategic, data-driven and creative thinking to the planning and implementation of the annual giving program to increase both participation and giving across constituencies, and increase revenue, to reach ambitious fundraising goals.
- Design the strategy, theme, messaging, communications, calendar and collateral for the Annual Fund, across multiple constituencies.
- Manage a portfolio of donors and participate in solicitations as assigned by DOA
- Conduct prospect identification and research; create prospect sheets; maintain accurate donor lists; produce ongoing reports as needed, including giving and analytical reports to set target solicitation amounts
- Grow and manage Annual Fund volunteer program
Events
- Design, plan and produce a variety of annual Advancement events such as the spring fundraiser (Dragon Spirit), Grandparents Day, Leadership Donor Cultivation and Appreciation Receptions, Alumni and Parents of Alumni reunions
- Manage event supplies; oversee hospitality, catering and budgeting
- Raiser’s Edge/Data Entry Management
- Process and acknowledge all gifts and pledges in a timely manner
- Create and analyze donor and giving reports including queries, exports, and analysis
- Track event data including registrations and attendance
- Consistent data maintenance and upkeep, including annual rollover
- Manage logistics and data input for Drew’s online auction
Other Duties
- Staff liaison for the Alumni Council, run quarterly meetings, work closely with Chair to increase alumni engagement
- Assist the DOA in committee work; prepare confidential reports, materials for meetings and solicitations; presentations; set up, attend, and take minutes at meetings
- Provide daily general assistance to the DOA, other duties as assigned
- Some nights and weekends may be required; possible travel
- Actively participate in professional development opportunities
QUALIFICATIONS
- Commitment to the mission of Drew School
- Ability to pivot and be nimble day-to-day, excited to work in a busy office that manages multiple projects, with both long-ranging and immediate deadlines
- Ability to work independently and take initiative to meet deadlines in a time sensitive environment with extreme attention to detail and accuracy
- Grace under pressure, and utmost tact and discretion with every type of constituent – students, parents, grandparents, other administrators and faculty
- Excellent writing and analytical skills
- Ability to manage highly sensitive financial and other personal information with confidentiality
- Highly proficient in Office and Google applications, as well as fundraising database systems (ideally Raiser’s Edge).
- Experience with Photoshop, MailChimp, Canva, and auction management platforms/databases a plus
