Assistant Director of Admissions, Outreach

Position Overview
We talk a lot about finding your voice and making an impact here at Drew, and we believe that process truly begins with the admissions journey. Therefore we are seeking an inspired outreach professional to not only help families discover Drew but guide them through a mission-aligned, student-centered, and accessible admissions experience.
The Assistant Director of Admissions, Outreach will have the primary role of identifying, establishing, and implementing targeted communications plans and recruitment strategies to drive and to achieve mission-aligned enrollment targets.
The Assistant Director of Admissions, Outreach works directly with the admissions team and partners closely with other school administrators and faculty. Some evening and weekend work is required. Occasional travel may also be required. This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt position.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone to work in a fast-paced/independent high school setting, interact with a broad set of constituents, and be a part of a high-impact collaborative team.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Identify key schools, organizations and students, develop and execute targeted outreach strategies for each to attract, recruit, and enroll students to meet enrollment targets
- In collaboration with the Director of Admissions and Director of Communications develop and maintain effective communications through hard-copy collateral, the website, emails, and social media
- Work as the liaison with the Communications Department to ensure proper integration of institutional priorities – oversee special projects with communications as needed
- Develop and execute on a targeted recruitment plans to attract best-fit students and build pipelines utilizing workflows in Ravenna to drive students to both apply and enroll
- Act as the primary liaison between the school and Community Access Organizations such as SMART, A Better Chance, Breakthrough, and First Graduate to develop and cultivate strong partnerships
- Seek out and develop relationships with additional mission-aligned community partners and create additional pipeline opportunities
- Work with Program Directors and Department Chairs to develop program-specific recruitment strategies
- Develop strong relationships with faculty and staff to help them become ambassadors for Drew and understand their role in recruiting and retaining families
- Design summer, fall, and spring recruitment outreach to Middle Schools and programs in collaboration with the admissions and communications team to promote Drew year round
- Strategically design and coordinate an effective student “visit” program and “revisit” week program
- Lead parent and/or student tours and information sessions at sending schools, community organizations, and fairs as needed
- Cultivate a culture of pride, service, enthusiasm, and commitment to applicants, students, and the School
Manage and lead the A-Team (student ambassador program) - Conduct student interviews
- Read and asses all applicant files
- Participate in Admissions Committee
- Assist in the coordination and implementation of admissions events
- Be a supportive member of an amazing and collaborative admissions team!
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s Degree (required)
- At least 3-5 years of admissions experience, preferably within an independent school
- Experience working and connecting with students (e.g. coaching, counseling, teaching)
- A positive outlook and genuine desire to partner with families through the admissions process
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in schools
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Should be able to adapt communication style to suit different audiences.
- Experience cultivating and managing relationships and developing partnerships
- Meticulous organizational and project management skills with flexibility to adapt
- Aptitude for technology and data management systems (e.g. Ravenna, Blackbaud, FinalSite) including Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with major social media platforms
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and facilitate an equitable admissions experience
- Spanish speaker preferred
