Park Day School

Overview

This is a contract position serving as the lead coordinator for the Park Day East Bay Mini Maker Faire taking place October 21, 2018. This event is attended by 6,000-8,000 people annually, and includes more than 170 booths, vendors and activities. The EBMMF Coordinator will take lead on bringing the event to life, manage a team of 40-50 parent volunteers, and manage all permitting and event logistics.

 

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Organize event, including all logistics, permits, rentals, insurance, 1099s for cash payments etc., maps, signage, event flow.
  • Generate and produce internal school communication and external publicity including managing the website and marketing for the event. Includes outreach to community stakeholders including public schools, community centers, and other youth serving organizations. Develop content for marketing message and market event via press releases, online and print advertising, grass-roots marketing, and PSAs.
  • Collaborate with volunteer leaders to create volunteer roles, identify volunteers for major tasks and then coordinate all volunteer activity (Main volunteer leads are: Volunteer Coordinator, Area Managers, Logistics, Eventbrite and ticket manager)
  • Maker Relations: Call for Makers, follow up communications, build relationships with maker community, giving back to the maker community in the form of lunches, party, opportunities for strategic relationships for example, a meeting with Arts Board Of Oakland, etc.
  • Work directly with MAKE.

 

Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills essential. Self starter who has experience managing a budget, excellent time management skills, ability to motivate and work well with others. Bachelor’s degree with at least two years related experience. Must be able to lift and carry up to 20-pounds.
