Student Life Director
Maternity Leave / Long Term Sub Position
This is a full-time position.
East Bay School for Boys is looking for an engaged, thoughtful, and courageous staff member and leader to join our administrative team for March and April of 2020. This position in our school will work closely with our Head of School and Learning Specialist to compose the Student Life Team.
The general job responsibilities of the Student Life Director include:
- Assisting teachers in developing activities, including field trips, service, and outdoor education opportunities connected to their curricula;
- Supervises the Assistant Athletic Director;
- Work with the Head of School to develop activities that help to build school culture
- Pillar Awards and other such recognition ceremonies
- All-school Olympics events and other spirit days/competitions to generate school spirit;
- Student Leadership / Government opportunities;
- Oversee our Advisory Program
- Lead our Restorative Justice and Student Accountability programming, including assisting students and teachers through the accountability process;
- Assist the school staff in its diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives,
- Participates in team meetings and works closely with Learning Specialist to support ILPs and student success plans; and
- Leads the school’s weekly town meeting.
Additional duties:
- Supervise lunch and break times;
- Teach student leadership elective;
- Supervise spaces during passing periods; and
- Problem find and solve around issues of school culture.

Requirements and experience recommended for this job:
- Experience as a classroom teacher, preferably in middle school;
- A desire to work with middle school boys and adults who love them;
- Administrative experience in schools, particularly as dean or assistant principal;
- Training, education and experience working for the improvement of school cultures, particularly around restorative practices, diversity, equity and inclusion;
- Knowledge of and work towards culturally responsive teaching and practices; and
- BA required, MA preferred in education or related studies.
