Mount Tamalpais School (MTS), a K-8 independent school serving up to 250 students in Mill Valley, California, is looking for an on-call, Substitute Teacher. These educators will partner with MTS teachers to provide a cohesive educational experience throughout the school year, as needed.
Our mission calls on us to create a “vigorous, creative and process-driven” program that “develops children who are well prepared for their future while remaining young at heart.” Substitute Teachers will be asked to do this as they teach academic classes, lead homeroom or advisory sessions, and supervise recess and lunch. Job Responsibilities
-Guest Teacher: Lead homeroom or advisory sessions and teach academic and/or specialist classes with plans prepared by the regular class teachers
-Supervise recess and lunch and do other duties assigned to MTS teachers.
-Attend to the social-emotional needs of elementary and middle school students, and have a sincere interest in this age group
-Commitment to raising anti-racist children and knowledge of anti-bias, identity-safe, and diversity-inclusive practices
-Communicate about the day with Administrative Assistant at conclusion of school day
Position Requirements
Education and Experience:
-A BA or BS, or currently pursuing a degree
-Experience working with school-age students
-Teaching credential not required
Personal Qualities:
-Ability to work with a wide range of individuals
-Exceptional organizational skills and flexibility
-The ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Pay: $280 a day
