Park Day School offers an outstanding co-educational TK-8 program to over 335 students.

Overview of Position
Park Day School is looking for a Transitional Kindergarten (TK) Teacher to begin July 14, 2025.
This teacher will be the inaugural classroom leader for our new Transitional Kindergarten
program. The TK Teacher is responsible for leading the TK class and teaming with an
Assistant teacher to provide a developmentally appropriate TK program for four and
five-year-olds. The TK Teacher will work on an 11-month schedule, which includes teaching
the summer program for students entering Kindergarten in the upcoming school year.

Responsibilities
● Team: Lead the Transitional Kindergarten (TK) team and work with the after-school
teaching team to support our youngest students. Collaborate, problem-solve, and
communicate with all TK teaching team members (including afterschool staff) as well
as with the Park Day faculty/staff at large.
● Curriculum: Lead in planning and implementing an exciting, challenging,
child-centered, and developmentally appropriate, inquiry-based transitional
kindergarten curriculum.
● Children: Encourage children to take initiative to solve problems and pursue their
own educational interests. Help children think, investigate, and ask questions as part
of the educational process. Strive to meet each child’s individual needs.
● Families: Support a physically and emotionally safe environment that nurtures and
facilitates the development of both children and families. Collaborate with families
toward their child’s success.

The ideal candidate will:
● Lead the transitional kindergarten team.
● Demonstrate the ability to take initiative, work passionately and joyfully, and
collaborate effectively with colleagues, students and parents.
● Have experience with collaborative teaching.
● Apply an understanding of the developmental stages of four and five year olds when
observing and working with individual children.
● Understand how to work with a diverse student population, including some students
with learning and behavioral needs.
● Have a working understanding of developmental/constructivist teaching practices
and social-emotional learning.
● Be able to successfully instruct and differentiate for students at different ability levels
and multiple intelligences.
● Model behavior and language that supports our mission and our program and
display excellent rapport with children and families.
● Express the desire and ability to take on increasing responsibility in the classroom
and the Park Day School community, and to participate generously.
● Display a passion for learning and a commitment to personal-professional growth.
● Work effectively with children, families, and staff of diverse backgrounds and family
structure and be committed to social justice, equity, and diversity.
● Communicate and problem-solve with the after school teaching staff about students
and families.
● Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills.
● Be proficient in technology: email, word processing, photos, etc.

Requirements
The successful candidate will:
● Have at least a Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or in a related field (at
least 24 ECE units are required). Master’s degree preferred.
● Have 3 or more years of experience as a lead teacher in an early childhood
environment.
● Be able to lift 40 lbs (the weight of the average preschool child).
