Marin Academy
We seek an experienced Spanish teacher for a part-time (50%-75%) position beginning in August 2018. Candidates should have at least 3 years of Spanish teaching experience at the high school level and a desire to teach introductory, intermediate and advanced levels. A bachelor’s degree in Spanish or a language-related field is required. A master’s or higher-level degree in Spanish or a language-related field is preferred. Heritage Spanish speakers and Spanish-as-a-second language speakers are encouraged to apply.
The World Language Department at Marin Academy requires that students take three years of one language no matter their level of entry. Our Spanish program includes levels 1, 2, 3, 3-honors, 4, 4-honors, 5, and 5/6-honors. MA’s world language program is a full immersion program beginning at level one. Level two Spanish is a rigorous study of vocabulary and grammar. Levels three through four focus on the development of fluency, and levels five and six focus exclusively on literature, history, and current events.
Candidates should be ready and excited to work collaboratively in teams within the World Language department and across MA’s academic departments. Candidates should be prepared to embrace MA’s student-centered philosophy and pedagogy. MA values the inclusion of many voices and perspective and candidates should have the inclination and experience to work in a diverse community focused on issues of equity and social justice.
Individuals with a demonstrated desire to play roles across the school — leading student activities and supporting key programs will be prioritized.
