Director of Admissions and Enrollment Starting July 1, 2022

Position Overview

The Director of Admissions and Enrollment is responsible for all aspects of the admissions process and enrollment management, serves as an integral member of the school’s senior administrative team, and helps to shepherd strategic operations and create a positive and dynamic school culture. The successful candidate will have a passion for progressive education and a deep and demonstrated commitment to the principles and practices of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging. This position works closely with Development and Communications team members and reports directly to the Head of School.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

The Director of Admissions and Enrollment develops and implements student recruitment and retention strategy, guides and supports students and families through every aspect of the admission process, and engages in effective outreach and communications to expand the school’s excellent reputation in the region. Specific duties and responsibilities include:

Communications, outreach and planning:

●  Develop a comprehensive plan to promote Peninsula School to prospective families and through area nursery schools and community-based organizations.
●  Work collaboratively with the Communications and Outreach Specialist and the Director of Development to develop and produce recruitment, retention, and marketing plans and materials.
●  Coordinate and produce advertising, articles in our weekly newsletter and other publications, and other communications on our program and admissions process.
●  Create and deliver presentations for prospective families.
●  Conduct any and all appropriate marketing research with an eye to increased enrollment and retention.
●  Meet with classroom teachers and teams to learn about the program and assist with program communications to current and potential families.

Retention, relationships and support:

●  Foster and manage relationships with current families – including newly enrolled families – to ensure they are connected, included, and informed.
●  Facilitate connections between prospective families and school staff and resources that can inform their school selection and decision-making.
●  Recruit and partner with parents and current teachers to serve as ambassadors for tours and open houses.
●  Organize and host new family and current family events on campus.
●  Coordinate with Parents of Peninsula (POP) on the New Family Orientation program and retention strategies for current families.

Admissions and enrollment processes:
●  Plan, organize, and facilitate tours, information sessions, and open houses for prospective families.
●  Perform intake interviews of prospective families.
●  Coordinate student play days for Nursery and Kindergarten observations and student shadow days for older students.
●  Evaluate and execute admission decisions on applicant files.
●  Establish a clear criteria and notification process for admissions decisions and status of students.
●  Work closely with classroom teachers and the Learning Specialist and Counselor on admissions processes and decisions.
●  Work closely with the Director of Finance and the Head of School to plan and coordinate the tuition assistance application process including the decision and notification process.

Systems, compliance, and reporting:
●  Maintain all records, correspondence, and other confidential information in an organized manner.
●  Develop and monitor statistical reports to enhance recruitment and retention strategies, yield management, forecasting, and operational efficiency.
●  Develop and maintain the school’s admissions database.
●  Create and deliver admissions and enrollment reports to the Board of Directors.
●  Maintain student immunization records and conduct state-mandated immunization reporting.
●  Ensure that the school is in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations in regards to admissions and the licensed Nursery Program.

Assist with other duties as requested by the Head of School.

Required Qualities and Characteristics

●  Bachelor’s degree
●  At least 2-3 years experience in admissions or a closely related field
●  Ability to communicate with inspiration, compassion, and clarity in written, verbal, and presentation formats
●  Focus on relationships and constituent care
●  A particular interest in progressive education
●  Excellent interpersonal, organizational and managerial skills
●  Ability to plan strategically, and collaborate effectively with others to meet goals
●  Execute responsibilities efficiently, accurately and on or before deadlines
●  Possess expertise in and/or the ability to learn software and web-based applications
●  Initiative, flexibility, humility, curiosity, and a commitment to learning and growth
●  Exhibit sound judgment related to confidential conversations, projects, and information related to the School or any of its constituents
●  Occasional availability on nights and weekends
●  Initial and continued criminal background clearance by DOJ and FBI
●  Initial and continued tuberculosis clearance

Employee is required to operate a computer and office productivity machinery and to communicate across a variety of media. The role may also require the employee to work in inclement weather during special activities and work at a desk for extended periods of time.
