Presidio Hill School is a progressive independent school located in the Presidio Heights neighborhood of San Francisco. Established in 1918 by artist-educator-activists Helen Salz and Flora Arnstein, Presidio Hill School is the oldest continuously operating progressive school in California, with a mission and history connected to social justice. Situated on the edge of the Presidio, our school takes full and frequent advantage of the park’s 1,500 acres; whether students are studying science, art, social studies, or literature, the Presidio is a rich and vital outdoor classroom to our students. Presidio Hill School offers its approximately 220 students a challenging, project-based curriculum that attends to their intellectual and social-emotional needs and prepares them to be agents of positive social change. Position Description
Presidio Hill School is seeking a part-time (10-12 hours per week) Lower School Support Counselor to work collaboratively with our full-time counselor, teaching colleagues and administration in support of our students and families.
The responsibilities of the Lower School Behavior Support Counselor may include but are not limited to the following:
• Classroom and playground observations
• Individual and small group counseling support for early learners
• Behavior support plans
• Consultation with full-time counselor, divisional heads, head of school, and teachers
• Consultation with parents
• Referrals to outside resources
• Case coordination with outside resources
• Participate in KidTalk and Student Support Team meetings
• Develop strong, professional relationships with faculty and staff
• Support teachers in implementing Social Emotional Learning lessons
• Parent/Guardian education events (1-2)
• Professional development training
• Stay current on continuing education units for licensure
• Uphold legal and ethical obligations as determined by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences
Qualifications
• Previous experience working with students as a licensed or certificated counselor
• 3+ years of direct service experience working with children ages 5 – 10 in an academic setting
• ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) and CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) experience a plus
• Demonstrated skill in communication and interpersonal relationships within and across constituencies
• Approachable with demonstrated skill in connecting with and building relationships with children and families
• Familiarity with Bay Area resources/referrals
Licensure / Credentials
• Licensed as a LMFT, LPCC, or LCSW preferred
• Pupil Personnel Services Credential in School Counseling preferred
• BCBA certification (Applied Behavior Analysis) a plus

Competitive

$85.00 per hour

Seeking approximately two 5-6 hour days per week
