Job Description

This individual reports to the Lower School Director and is responsible for providing administrative support to this position as well as assisting the Director in supporting lower school faculty and students. The Assistant to the Lower School Director has strong event planning, communication, organizational, problem solving skills and a high level of technology proficiency. They exhibit a high degree of discretion when managing confidential information.

 

The support functions for this role include, but are not limited to: managing scheduling; data and database system maintenance (Blackbaud My School App); office supply purchasing; drafting/editing/sending communications and reports; filing; reception duties; scheduling substitute teachers; responding to faculty and family messages and correspondence; providing information and responding to inquiries, and disseminating information internally.

 

This position also helps coordinate lower school activities and events including, but not limited to: Back to School Night; STEAM Fair; Art Show; MAP testing; field trips; outdoor education trips (in partnership with Director of Student Life); and Step-Up.

 

Additional responsibilities include supervisory duties, occasionally serving as a substitute teacher for uncovered teacher absences, participation in various student and community activities, and any other tasks/duties assigned by the Lower School Director.

 

Essential Requirements

The ideal candidate has:

●        Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (minimum two years clerical or administrative support experience)

●        Culturally competent, responsive, and sensitive to diverse populations

●        Strong written and oral communication skills

●        Ability to work independently and as part of a team; ability and willingness to work cooperatively with others

●        Familiarity with Google Suite and Zoom

●        Strong project management and coordination experience

●        Effective organizational structures and methods with a strong attention to detail

●        High degree of discretion dealing with confidential information

●        Ability and willingness to work some early mornings, evenings, and weekend days

 

Desired Qualifications:

●        Experience working with lower school students and parents

●        Experience working in a school setting and partnering with community members

●        Experience with student information systems such as Blackbaud My School App

 

Schedule and Hours

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Standard hours are 8:00 am – 4:30 pm Monday – Friday (5:00 p.m. on Wednesdays). This position is available for immediate hire.

 

Compensation/Benefits

The anticipated salary range the school reasonably expects to pay candidates for the full-time position of Assistant to the Lower School Director is $32 to $36 per hour depending on factors such as experience and education.
