Sacramento Country Day School, the regional leader in Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade independent school education since 1964, seeks a Third Grade Teacher to add to our amazing faculty. This is a full-time position, with benefits (100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision premiums for employee only), beginning August 16, 2025. The annual salary range is $52,000 – $95,000 depending on education and experience.
Serving over 580 students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade, the Lower School serves roughly 260 students in pre-kindergarten through 5th grade. Lower School students are inspired and supported by twenty-eight faculty and staff members, who are all focused on the academic, emotional, and social growth of their students. Position Summary
Help students develop and flourish throughout the school year. Develop ways to help students grow in the classroom by setting an excellent example and providing lessons that meet the needs of all students. Work directly with students to ensure the success and development of your classroom throughout the year.
Responsibilities:
· Deliver daily instruction of the curriculum.
· Plan collaboratively with the teaching partner and other team members.
· Revise curriculum as needed and/or directed.
· Be responsible for timely parent communication.
· Write detailed individualized student reports three times a year.
· Conduct parent-teacher conferences.
· Organize field trips to support the curriculum.
· Communicate with homeroom parents to coordinate activities.
· Work closely with department chairs on curricular matters
· Supervise students during recess and lunch as assigned.
· Attend department faculty and staff meetings.
· Overtly support and act in accordance with the school’s mission and values
· Foster a safe, predictable, and supportive environment for students
· Interact with colleagues in a respectful and collegial manner that fosters a healthy faculty culture
· Demonstrate planning and preparation for effective instruction
· Uphold professional standards of personal presentation, punctuality, professional courtesy, and discretion
· Attendance and participation in important school events including, but not limited to Admission Open House, Back to School Night, Spring Showcase and other key school events
· Carry out specific assignments as determined by their supervisor
· Maintain professional credentials, as appropriate
· Honor the confidentiality of school, student, and family information
· Comply with all school policies and procedures as articulated in the school’s faculty handbook
· Authentically engage in self-reflection and annual development of a growth and renewal plan, to include written goals and progress toward those goals.
· Other responsibilities as assigned by the Head of Lower School.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred)
· At least three years of lead teaching experience
· Success working with children in a classroom setting
· Responsive Classroom is a plus
· Patience, kindness, and an overtly warm manner with children
· Ability to set boundaries with children in a firm but caring way
· Ability to support (assist) the social-emotional growth of students and support problem-solving and conflict resolution
· Investment in diverse and inclusive curriculums, connections with students, and families
· A clear commitment to independent school education
· Strong commitment to diversity, equity, belonging and inclusion
School requirements include: Background check, First Aid/CPR training (school sponsored), negative TB result.
