Teaching Opportunity for an Experienced Photography Teacher
This is a part-time position.
Start Date: Mid-August 2024

Summary:
San Francisco Waldorf High School has an opening for a Photography Teacher for next school
year, 2024-2025. We offer elective digital photography classes in 8-week blocks to 11th and
12th graders.

The instructor will be teaching the technical components of photography as well as
photographic composition during each block. The students will learn concepts such as
exposure, aperture, shutter speed, ISO and composition to help develop their artistic voice as
a photographer. Applicants should be comfortable with manual camera settings as well as
visual patterns in composition. Classes meet twice per week (3 hours per week total) and
class size ranges from 10-14 students.

For the 2024-2025 school year, photography will meet on: Tuesdays 1:30pm – 3:30pm and
Fridays 10:30am – 11:55am, from October 22, 2024 to June 3, 2025. This constitutes 3 blocks
(10/22 – 12/17/24, 1/7 – 3/18/25, and 3/21 – 6/3/25).

Capacities & Knowledge:

  • Take daily attendance and provide a narrative evaluation and grade for each
    student at the end of the block. The narrative evaluations and grades are to be
    submitted online, according to the schedule provided by the registrar twice per
    year.
  • Provide students with rubrics for evaluation and give them feedback on their
    work in a timely manner
  • Attend School Events as needed, such as the Founders’ Night Showcase (May 9,
    2025), Admissions Open Houses, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of Photoshop

 

Compensation & Benefits
This is a part-time position. Compensation is $75-80 per class (depending on experience),
one prep hour per week during each block, and hourly payment for all over events attended
as required. This is a non-exempt, hourly position. It does not continue through the summer
break. Benefits include San Francisco Sick Paid Sick Leave and San Francisco Health Care
Ordinance.
