We are seeking enthusiastic and reliable Grade School Substitute Teachers (for Early Childhood and/or Grades 1st – 8th Grade) who are passionate about education. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, nurturing, and capable of maintaining the classroom’s flow while adhering to the values and philosophy of Waldorf education.

Individuals with university degrees, Waldorf teacher training, and preferably, experience teaching in a Waldorf school are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities Include:
- Provide instruction and maintain the classroom environment as outlined in the lesson plans provided by the primary teacher.
- Foster a supportive and engaging learning atmosphere for students
- Maintain a sense of continuity and stability within the classroom
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and administration
- Manage classroom behavior in a positive and respectful manner
Qualifications:
- Waldorf Teacher Training completed – preferred
- Enthusiasm and Flexibility
- Early Childhood and/or Grade School Teaching experience preferred
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Ability to adapt to various teaching environments and grade levels
- TB Assessment and Livescan Fingerprinting required
Compensation:
Compensation is $55 per hour or $250 for a full day. This is a part-time, as needed, temporary/short-term, non-exempt position. It carries no benefits other than those available through San Francisco City. This position does not continue during the summer break months.
School breaks and Holidays are unpaid.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- Be able to occasionally lift to 30 lbs.
- Work intermittently in outside weather conditions, including heat and cold
- Regularly sitting or standing 4-8 hours
FLSA Classification: Not exempt from overtime; hourly
