The Branson School is a coeducational, college-preparatory day school of 320 students, grades 9-12, located in Marin County, California. Branson is more than just a great school. Position Description
The Assistant Director of Admissions represents The Branson School to a wide-ranging prospective audience and plays an integral role in the cultivation, consideration and selection of each year’s incoming class. This person must serve as a warm, knowledgeable and energetic Branson representative at open houses, campus visits, school fairs, and other admissions events. They must be comfortable reinforcing the merit of a Branson education to prospective students, parents, high school placement counselors, and outreach organizations.
Work Requirements
The Assistant Director of Admissions manages a wide range of tasks related to admissions. This person must be team oriented, organized, energetic, and enjoy the challenges of working with diverse groups of people. They must have the ability to remain composed in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient.
A high level of professionalism, discretion, and judgment is crucial to this role as well as expert level written and verbal communication. The Assistant Director of Admissions must enjoy the independent school environment and interacting with teenagers and parents. Most importantly, this person must like eighth graders!

Functions & Responsibilities
Interviews prospective student applicants
Trains and manages student hosts
Collaborates to implement programs to recruit and retain students from underrepresented groups
Oversees the Ravenna database and the completion of applications
Maintains communication with Ravenna liaison to make sure the system is running smoothly
Rebuilds and updates the Branson application on Ravenna annually, including overseeing live testing and the Online Launch Review (OLR) every August
Corresponds with middle school registrars to assist in the completion of applications
Plans and implements reader training
Reads and evaluates student applications
Serves as a key member of the Admissions Review Committee
Updates and maintains the content for the admissions pages on Branson’s website
Updates the admissions office’s recruitment and marketing plans
Daily coordination of the fall Campus Visit program (as well as Revisits in the spring).
Plans, organizes, and supervises Campus Visits for prospective student applicants
Help plan admissions events in the fall and spring, such as open houses, school fairs, coffees, the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Forum, and the New Student Welcome day
Acts as a liaison with applicants and their parents through the entire application process via phone calls and emails regarding completing the application on Ravenna and registration for admissions events
Assures accurate, comprehensive, and up-to-date records of the admissions database
Develops and maintains statistical reports to enhance recruitment strategies, yield management, forecasting, and operational efficiency
Organizes and oversees mailings, correspondence, and clerical office tasks
Assists the Director of Admissions as required
Position Requirements
Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2-3 years of progressive admissions experience;
Able to effectively communicate in person and in writing
Experience with production of a variety of media, particularly print publications
High technological literacy; experience with Ravenna is a plus
Exhibits a personality that demonstrates enthusiasm and the interpersonal skills to relate well with students, faculty & staff, administration, parents, and the community
Comfortable with public speaking
Strong attention to detail and the ability to organize efficiently and effectively
Discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential information
Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends as required
Physical Requirements
Use strength to lift items needed to perform the functions of the job
Must be able to push and carry equipment
Must be able to stand for long periods of time, have good mobility skills, and be able to walk long distances
