Position Overview:

The Little School is seeking a dynamic and entrepreneurial Director of Auxiliary Programs to lead, develop and manage all aspects of the school’s auxiliary programs. This role is responsible for creating, marketing and overseeing programs that enrich the school community, align with the school’s mission and generate additional revenue. Programs include extended day care, enrichment classes, summer camps and break camps. The ideal candidate is a leader with 1) a passion for education, children and community engagement, 2) strong organizational skills and 3) the ability to build and sustain relationships.

The Director of Auxiliary Programs loves children and understands and appreciates the power of childhood. They are confident and capable educators who are able to foster curiosity, support outdoor learning and play, nurture social-emotional development and design hands-on experiences with children that are infused with art, science, sports and nature. They are organized and communicative administrators who are able to hire, train, support and mentor their program staff. They work directly with families to support and guide them in their needs outside of the school day. They collaborate to create continuity between the school-day and after-school experience, to communicate thoughtfully with families, faculty and students, and to design and support a fun and engaging program.

Primary Responsibilities (see full description on website for more details):
Design and manage our after-school programs and summer programs, maintaining the philosophy consistent with the school day program.
Hire, train, inspire and supervise Extended Day and Summer Program staff.
Communicate with parents about programs in a professional and responsive manner.
Hire vendors and staff to provide quarterly enrichment classes.
Design engaging, full-day Break Camps during conference and in-service days as well as school vacations in February, April and summer.
Ensure safety and supervision comply with licensing requirements and school expectations.
Connect Extended Day staff and classroom teachers to ensure continuity of programming.

Compensation:
This is a salaried, 12-month position that includes competitive salary, health, vision, dental and retirement benefits. Salary will range between $75,000-$82,000 depending on experience.

Start Date: The start date is negotiable but could begin as early as March 1, 2025, but no later than June 1, 2025.

Responsibility Details for Website
Program Development and Oversight:
Design, implement, organize and manage all auxiliary programs, including before- and after-school care, enrichment activities, and summer camps.
Ensure programs align with The Little School’s mission, values, and high-quality standards.
Regularly interact with students and staff and adjust program to the strengths of staff and needs of children.
Innovate and develop new programs based on community needs and market trends.
Evaluate the effectiveness and quality of programs through feedback and assessment metrics.
Budget Management:
Create and manage budgets for all auxiliary programs to ensure financial sustainability and profitability.
Set program fees and manage enrollment to meet revenue goals.
Collaborate with the Business Office to monitor expenditures, adhere to budgets and report to the Head of School.

Staff Hiring, Supervision and Development:
Recruit, hire, train and supervise auxiliary program staff, ensuring they provide a safe and engaging environment for students.
Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that promotes teamwork and professional growth.
Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing support and development opportunities for staff.

Program Evaluation and Quality Assurance:
Establish and maintain systems for evaluating the effectiveness and quality of auxiliary programs.
Collect and analyze data to assess program outcomes and make data-driven decisions.
Implement continuous improvement processes to enhance program quality and impact.

Communication and Collaboration:
Maintain clear, consistent, and proactive communication with families, staff and students, ensuring a positive working relationship between families and the school.
Develop and execute marketing plans to promote auxiliary programs to current and prospective families.
Manage online registration systems and provide excellent customer service.
Build and maintain strong relationships with enrichment vendors and other community organizations.

Compliance and Risk Management:
Ensure that all auxiliary programs comply with state licensing requirements, health and safety regulations and school policies.
Prioritize safety and partner with the Director of Facilities to mitigate any risks.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and documentation for all programs.

Community Engagement:
Actively engage with students, parents, and faculty to build relationships and promote auxiliary programs.
Represent The Little School at community events to enhance visibility and reputation.
Collaborate with school leadership and faculty to integrate auxiliary programs into the broader school experience.
