About the Role:

The teacher facilitates hands-on projects and promotes collaboration among students. Furthermore, the teacher is attuned to the specific learning needs and social and emotional development of each student. As the central figure in the network of adults supporting each child, the teacher maintains ongoing communications, formal and informal, with parents, specialists, and administrators. The position requires a strong understanding of best practices and emerging research regarding teaching and learning, as well as a deep understanding of the importance of social emotional learning.

Key Responsibilities and Requirements:

Fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment that celebrates diverse learning styles, fosters a growth mindset, and encourages higher-order thinking for all students.
Establishing a classroom environment with clear and consistent routines and expectations to promote student autonomy and engagement.
Ensuring the safety of each student by supervising and engaging in recess games, lunch, and transitions between classrooms.
Creating differentiated learning experiences aligned with formative assessments.
Contributing to interdisciplinary curriculum design and student support strategies with the grade-level team and specialists.
Communicating with parents/guardians about students’ progress, strengths, and areas for growth
Supporting the professional growth of the associate teacher with clear expectations, opportunities for demonstrations, mentorship, and constructive feedback.
Bringing heart, dedication, collaboration, passion, and humor to our vibrant learning community.

Qualifications
The successful candidate must love working with children, possess a nurturing teaching style, and interact productively with parents. The position requires an undergraduate degree and at least three years of experience teaching elementary school. Preferred qualifications include specific experience teaching at the grade level, a Multiple Subject Credential, and a master’s degree in education or a related field. A demonstrated understanding of Responsive Classroom, inquiry-based learning, and differentiated instruction would allow a strong candidate to smoothly implement hallmarks of the PBS program.

Other Position Information:

This is a full-time, faculty contract – a 10-month position with a salary range from $75,000-120,000 depending on background and experience. PBS has an excellent benefits program in addition to salary.
