K-4th Learning Specialist
Starts August 10, 2022 – 80-100% FTE position
Pay based on years of experience.
Overview
The K-4th Learning Specialist (LS)
provides services directly to students in the classrooms and in small pull-out groups
works alongside student support team and classroom teachers to serve students, teachers and families
collaborates with teachers to develop student learning plans, accommodations and differentiated instruction & curriculum
screens children for learning and developmental differences and/or interprets outside assessments
recommends outside testing, tutoring or other indicated special services and provides case management by partnering with teachers and families
The K-4 LS educates faculty, parents, and students about learning and teaching styles and strategies. K-4 LS services include support for reading, writing, and mathematics instruction with a keen awareness of social-emotional, sensory, and regulation strategies.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have:
Training + experience as a Learning Specialist, Special Education Credential, and/or an MA in Special Education
Three years minimum experience in elementary and special education teaching credential preferred
Cultural competence in multicultural classrooms and sensitivity to the needs of children from diverse backgrounds
Proven mastery of early literacy and numeracy instruction
An ability to work collaboratively and effectively with teachers + parents
Familiarity with educational resources in San Francisco
Effective communication and facilitation skills
