POSITION SUMMARY
ECE Guest Teacher responds to advance or day-of requests to work in our Early Childhood Education program at the Seven Hills School. ECE Guest Teacher assists Lead and Support Teachers in implementing an age-appropriate curriculum driven by children’s interests and inquiries inspired by the Reggio-Emilia approach. ECE Guest Teachers work closely with ECE Lead and Support Teachers to ensure compliance with state licensing requirements. This position requires great energy, self-motivation, creativity, enthusiasm, flexibility, and the ability to innovate, communicate, and cooperate well with others.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
● Work closely with Lead Teacher(s) to execute Reggio-inspired and age-appropriate curricula that address the individual learning needs of each student
● Facilitate small or all group experiences, as determined by the teaching team, including initiating inquiry/project work
● Transition with students into specialty classes to provide ongoing support
Effectively manage a small group of children during meal times
Conduct visual supervision of students at all times as required by Community Care Licensing
● Assist in maintaining a clean and organized classroom environment
Assist Lead Teacher(s) to communicate regularly and promptly with families to build a mutually respectful, honest, and professional relationship
● Demonstrate cultural responsiveness and respect for students’ backgrounds by incorporating their cultural, linguistic, and familial values and beliefs into lesson plans and classroom activities in collaboration with the Lead Teacher(s)
● Believe and act in accordance with both the Seven Hills School mission statement and divisional expectations
● Other tasks and duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
● Bachelor’s degree (preferred) in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, related field (at least 12 ECE units), or Multiple Subject credential
● Knowledge of developmental stages of children ages 2-6 yrs
Have a minimum of 2 years of experience working in an ECE setting
Have experience in emergent curriculum and inquiry-based teaching strategies and interest in Reggio-inspired pedagogy

Possess an ability to work harmoniously in a collegial, collaborative parallel teaching environment
Comply with all Community Care Licensing requirements, including the completion of CCL mandated training and paperwork
Commitment to supporting a pedagogy of care tending to the whole child, including their physiological needs of sustenance, rest, and toileting
Advocate for the image of the child and the value of early childhood education
A commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity
Proficiency with the use of instructional technology
Exemplify professionalism through clear communication, problem-solving, and priority-setting skills, as well as the ability to maintain an overall positive and professional attitude /disposition and punctuality

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the following are required:
● Ability to stand and sit; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat or crawl
Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and, in case of emergency, a 60-pound child
● Specific vision abilities, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
● Ability to drive a motor vehicle, if required
SCHEDULE/CALENDAR
Guest teachers may be asked to cover a 6-8 hour shift between the hours of 7am-6pm, with primary programming between 8:30-2:15pm.
The Early Childhood Education program is open from August through June.
Employment is contingent upon Employee’s satisfaction of all legal and school requirements for employment by the School during the length of employment.
