Dear Presidio Hill Team,
My name is Jessica Lane, and I am an educator dedicated to teaching English/Humanities using transformational education strategies that promote social, emotional, and intellectual wellness in a holistic academic structure and environment. I provide self-directed, activity-based lessons that encourage self-exploration and community awareness along with a culture of work and knowledge full of rich English/Humanities content so that the next generation can cultivate thriving communities and healthy change.
After receiving a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism and Documentary Film with a minor in Peace Studies from Chapman University, I became dedicated to exploring the process of personal-growth and the gap in adolescent self-development support. I obtained certifications in mindfulness, integrative wellness and life coaching, yoga, and therapeutic drumming, and began teaching youth using these techniques. I then decided to earn my Single Subject Teaching Credential in English and my master’s degree in Transformative Education from Loyola Marymount University.
In addition to obtaining a master’s degree in education, which I will complete this coming spring (2025), and obtaining a Single Subject English Credential which I will receive upon CSET completion this summer, I am already a certified Montessori educator in secondary education. I have worked one-on-one and in class settings with diverse groups of students from Montessori and private schools to Boys and Girls Clubs to homeschool organizations. I now focus on creating course curricula from the lens of mindfulness and individualized learning to produce an atmosphere of thriving individual development and integrative, improved education programs.
I absolutely loved my job guiding Humanities at Academy of Thought and Industry, a private Montessori-based middle school in San Francisco. My ATI students consistently scored in the highest percentile on ELA state testing, produced wonderful and creative work, and 100% of my eighth graders got into their top private high school choices this year.
Sadly, our ATI school location is closing completely, and I am not looking to relocate to another ATI location in the country, so I am seeking a new teaching opportunity here in the Bay Area. Presidio Hill stood out to me for its project-based learning focus and excellent reputation.
I hope that you will take the time to meet with me regarding this position and thank you for your serious consideration.
Sincerely,
Jessica Lane
